You want to set your own domain for your Web App? Here we show you how it works
Set uo Web App Domain: this is how you do it!
To give your Web App its own domain, go to the dashboard and click on Publish -> Web App.
You will see that under the item Domain address the name of your App (myApp) and "myApp" is linked to the domain .appyourself.net by default. For your own domain, please confirm the checkbox "Use your own domain".
Under the checkbox you will find a blue infobox. To use your own domain name for your app, e.g. "app.myDomain.de" it is necessary to create a CNAME DNS entry for this domain name. This DNS entry must refer to the original domain address "myApp.appyourself.net" or be linked to it.
What is a CNAME?
A CNAME is an entry in the so-called Domain Name System (DNS), which tells where someone can find your Web App. It is used to link your own domain with your web app.
How do I create a CNAME DNS record?
You create the CNAME DNS record at your domain provider. This process can be different from provider to provider. Basically the following steps can be done:
1. Create your desired subdomain, e.g. "app.myDomain.de".
2. Open the DNS settings for this subdomain
3. Create the CNAME record that points to the current app domain, e.g. "myApp.appyourself.net". Some DNS settings expect a dot (.) at the end of the target domain -> "myApp.appyourself.net.".
4. Save the DNS changes
5. Enter your own App Domain at AppYourself in the Own Domain field and click on the Validate Now button to validate it.
You can find more information about this from your domain administrator.
If you do not manage your domain yourself, please contact your domain administrator.
